Why Go Bald Pocket Park. Public Realm Proposal. Sceal Phairc.

Client: Dublin City Council (DCC)

Landscape Architect Roisin Byrne leads the consultant design team, generating ideas for DCC temporary design to this highly used public corner of Dame Lane / Georges Street in inner city Dublin.

In collaboration with Urban Asylum, we imagined an extended collaborative project, inviting curators and artists to propose engagement processes with citizens, people who use the space, over the period of one year. The landscape intention for the space is that it functions as a Performance Area. ‘Parks as Stage’ We imagined that elements are simple and fixed securely, yet the changing curators of the space have the freedom to Set the Stage by having the ability to move the elements to suit their performance. This changeability has the additional advantage of keeping the space fresh and interesting.
