Roisin Byrne, Nature Based Landscape Architecture, Design and Project management lead, and delighted to be collaborating to create such an amazing urban garden for Roe & Co. Distillery in the heart of the Golden Triangle in the Liberties. Through the Roe & Co. Distillery Urban Gardens, we extend the tradition of master craftsmanship. Collaborating to create gardens linking with the rich Roe history by grafting from the original 150 year old pear tree which we plant with heritage Irish apples to create a new urban orchard. We support pollinating insects by planting beautiful organic perennials.
Collaborators:
Roe & Co. Distillery, vision for a welcoming contemporary garden for visitors on site with an urban allotment and community connections.
Seoidin O Sullivan, as part of Hard/Graft Arts Project collaborated with the Digital Hub to get 40 sicons (growths) from the original Roe pear tree, we will plant four of these daughter trees into the gardens in the winter.
Heritage apple trees from Irish Seed Savers
So far we have a heritage Dublin Apple, ‘Councillor’ and one from Derry, ‘Kemp’
Peter O’Brien & Sons (Landscaping) Ltd. Brilliantly built out the gardens.
Gert + Elisabeth Stam of Caherhurley Nurseries grew and cared for the beautiful perennial plants organically. Great news for our pollinating insects!
